Bali bombers’ vengeance: canceling Rihanna’s show
There’s something ugly going on in here.
I mean, what the heck? Deciding to cancel the show one day before the big day? Her agency cited a certain travel warning by the US government as a reason for no show. In fact, the only thing close to a warning is the US Embassy’s warden message issued in Nov. 9 in relation to the Bali bombers’ execution, which advises US citizens of the possibility of …demonstration!
I don’t know, probably Rihanna, like everyone else here in the Big Durian, is concerned about the wretched traffic jams resulting from the demonstrations, and she’s afraid of not being able to get to the show on time. But the right question is really, why did she agree to come here in the first place–what with the last actual travel warning issued on Indonesia that had been in effect since November 2000 and was only lifted in May this year.
Another possibility is probably one of Rihanna’s handlers spotted this article in Kompas today and, realizing that the Indonesian promoter might not be allowed to pay her in USD, decided to call the whole thing off. Ah, that makes more sense.
